3D light and sound show livens up vintage building in Shanghai

The New Year countdown at the Shanghai Concert Hall presented residents with a spectacular 3D light and sound show, which was held on the building's western style facade.

The arrival of 2011 was accompanied by a marvelous light and sound show displayed on the eighty-one year old facade of the Shanghai Concert Hall. A building which Shanghai music buffs are very familiar with.

The wall of the concert hall was transformed into a magical keyboard with the bricks acting as the keys, which moved up and down with the melody of the music.

High tech lighting and 3D programs brought the windows, tiles of the facade to life. Amazing images were generated which appeared to fly right out of the building as the jubilant music brought in the New Year.

Audience Member, said, "Very beautiful. Out of this world."

It took technicians 17 days to complete this dazzling display. The technical crew that made this possible was the same group behind the Qingming Riverside Festival moving scroll, at the China Pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo.

Ye Feng, Supervisor of Crystal Company, said, "The difficulty exists in combining the videos with the facade of the building, and the visual scenes with the music."

The light and sound show highlight Shanghai as a metropolis deeply influenced by western culture.
