The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned citizens against fraudulent internet announcements advertising job vacancies and marriage opportunities in Europe in exchange for money.

Assistant foreign minister Mohamed Abdel Hakam said in a statement some European states have recently deported a number of Egyptians who were taken in by such scams. He went on to stress that European countries will continue to deport Egyptians who breach their residency laws.

Hakam also warned that tourist visas do not give their carriers the right to work.
