An award-winning country music singer jumped on a quad, braving sub-zero temperatures to rescue her brother-in-law after he became stranded in the snow.
Lisa McHugh (22) got the SOS call from her brother-in-law Shaun (27) at 3am on Saturday morning after he became stranded in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, following a work night out.
A small number of taxis were out in the snow and he couldn't get home so he called the young singer to come to his aid.
"I told him I couldn't get my car out. It was snowbound.
"Then Shaun remembered the quad in the shed so he suggested I should try and pick him up on that. It was unlikely he could walk home in the slippery conditions.
Lisa drove the 10 minute journey into the town centre on the quad. "I can tell you it was a bitterly cold journey. It was like a ghost town in the snow on my way in. Then when I got there people trying to get home started throwing snowballs at me," she said.
She picked up Shaun and the pair were back home within an hour.
Lisa, who is to spend Christmas in Glasgow, is due back for New Year gigs with her band in Ireland before she travels back to the UK to join American country singer Gene Watson on tour.
