Valencia faced Villarreal in another first leg of the last 16 of the King's Cup.
Valencia enjoyed the home-pitch advantage and did most of the attacking in the first half. The home side missed a golden chance to take the lead at 38 minutes. Pablo Hernandez came close...but not close enough, 0-0 at the half.
Second half...and another nice setup from Valencia. Juan Manuel Mata's shot found the woodwork.
At 55 minutes, Jeremy Mathieu made a curving assist, but Mata again just failed to connect. Still no score.
Then, Portuguese defender Ricardo Costa headed just wide with 20 minutes to go. Costa missed team-mate Roberto Soldado, who was free for a better shot at the goal. Valencia and Villareal ended with a 0-0 draw.
