Weather: Latest Forecast From Sky News Team

3:27am UK, Sunday December 19, 2010

Dr Chris England, Sky News meteorologist

There is a significant risk of snow and ice across many areas of Britain with freezing winds and some areas and clearing skies elsewhere.

The areas most at risk are the eastern and north-eastern counties and eastern Scotland.

There is also a risk of further snow in the most southern counties, especially those areas close to the south coast including Southampton and Dorset.

Temperatures have plummeted in areas where skies have cleared, and are well below freezing, reaching a low of minus 18.4C in Gloucestershire.

Some snow showers are also expected for Northern Ireland.

Monday will be mostly fine in the south, but there will be more snow in the north and some rain for Cornwall.

It will turn relatively mild in the far south.
