Music is known as a universal language. Dancers are quick to point out that dance also speaks to the world. Dozens of professional dancers and dance enthusiasts came to Fuzhou, the capital city of southeast China's Fujian province, to attend the Second Cross Strait Youngsters Dance Carnival.

Acrobatic street dance, smooth tap dance, sensual belly dance, and elegant ballroom dance, as well as a folk dance originating in Fujian called "Slapping the Chest" took to the stage in Fuzhou, on the first day of the New Year.

The cross Straits carnival turned out to be a desired exchange for dancers from both sides of the Straits.

It's the second time for Chen Zhaoliang, from Taiwan to take part in the carnival. But this time he brought along his six year old son on stage.

Chen Zhaoliang, Dancer, said, "I'm glad to come to the mainland to perform in Fujian. I hope my son can inherit my love for dance, and do his part for the cultural exchange across the Straits."

An interactive section jazzed up the atmosphere. As a group from Taiwan performed some street dance moves, an amateur mainland street dance crew couldn't help but join them on stage.
