Leading a ministerial delegation in his first post-revolution visit outside the country, caretaker Prime Minister Essam Sharaf headed to Sudan on Sunday.

During the visit, his delegation will discuss all aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the crucial issue of sharing the Nile's waters.

“This is our first visit outside Egypt,” Sharaf said before leaving Cairo. “Its main target is discussing cooperation with officials in Sudan and its south in the light of an excellent historical relationship that ties Egypt with Sudan.”

Sharaf added this visit will be followed by others to African countries especially those of the Nile Basin.

“We hope we’ll be lucky during this visit and the others following. There are many important issues relating to Egypt and Sudan as well as all of Africa.”

Sharaf is accompanied by ministers of foreign affairs, electricity, international cooperation, irrigation, higher education, agriculture and industry.
