X Factor winner Matt Cardle remained king of the pop charts as his debut single held on to the top spot for a second week in a row.

The former painter and decorator from Essex outsold the competition to claim the number one with his cover of the Biffy Clyro song When We Collide, the Official Charts Company said.

The 27-year-old released a version of the song by the Mercury Prize-nominated rock trio following his victory on the ITV talent show.

What's My Name by Rihanna Ft Drake remained in second place in this week's chart, ensuring the singer continued to occupy four separate spots in the top 40 simultaneously.

Her track Only Girl (In The World) went from seven to six.

David Guetta's new track, Who's That Chick, which features the Barbadian star, moved from 15 to 11, while Eminem's song Love The Way You Lie, also featuring her, went from 39 to 37.

The Black Eyed Peas' latest single, The Time (Dirty Bit), sampling a song from the hit film Dirty Dancing, moved up from fourth to third place.

Biffy Clyro's own version of When We Collide, going by its original name Many Of Horror, dropped from eight to 25.

There were only two new entries in the top 40, including Lights On by Katy B Ft Ms Dynamite which claimed the number four spot.

Meanwhile, Take That continued their domination of the album charts with their latest offering, Progress, remaining at the top. Rihanna's Loud was the second biggest seller, ahead of former X Factor finalist Olly Murs, who moved up from fifth to fourth with his self titled album.
