British author and World Memory Championships' founder, Tony Buzan, is attending this year's tournament in Guangzhou. He explained how the mind works and his inspiration to establish the mental sport event.

Tony Buzan's fascination with the brain began when he was just seven years old. He formulated methods of brain training while studying at university.

He also drew pictures, better known as "mind maps", to help people improve their memory mental literacy.

Buzan said this championship is the biggest in its 19-year history. China has the largest number of competitors from one country, with 100 finalists. The winner of this year's tournament will be crowned on Saturday.
