The world's largest pair of hand cut identical round brilliant diamonds were unveiled in New York on Thursday. The diamond duo was estimated to be worth upwards of 20 million U.S. dollars.

The Steinmetz diamonds are called Yin and Yang and weigh in at 35.6 and 35.7 carats respectively. The gems were cut from two individual rough diamonds, that each weighed over 100 carats.

Lior Levin, the marketing director for Steinmetz, explained why the twin stones are so unique.

Lior Levin said, "The actual matching of such a large diamond, 35 carats each, D color, which is colorless and flawless both internally and externally and of course the cut, the symmetry and the polish is excellent. It's never been done before, it's one unique pair that according to GIA, which is the Gemological Institute of America, it's the largest ever graded."
