Also in Spain a man who fell onto a railway line in Madrid on Friday was saved from serious injury or possible death by an off-duty policeman.

Passengers on the opposite platform began gesticulating furiously to warn the driver of the oncoming train. One man jumped onto the track and hauled the man to safety as the train arrived.

He is then helped by fellow passengers to pull the man onto the platform. The video, which was given out by Spanish police, is accompanied by a description of the incident by the off-duty policeman who carried out the rescue.
