In Germany, an international star took the stage for a big game in the German Cup. Jefferson Farfan marked his 100th appearance for Schalke 04 in a matchup against FC Augsburg on Tuesday.
Augsburg held its own in the early stages. The side looked to take the lead midway through the first half. Stephan Hain's ball drifted across the face of the goal and out of play. They were scoreless at the half.
Schalke tried to step it up a gear after the break. Raul took possession on the edge of the penalty area, but the Spanish striker sent his shot over the crossbar.

Augsburg got another good look at a goal...Tobais Werner raced into the box, but 'keeper Manuel Neuer pushed his shot wide. Schalke played tough. The visitors lie tenth in the Bundesliga, and beat Cologne 3-0 in their last outing.
Augsburg held Schalke down through most of the second half, but the pressure got worse for the underdogs as time went on. Lukas Schmitz got a shot in from a tight angle, but Augsburg's defense dramatically cleared the ball off the line. They kept the score 0-0 going into the final minutes.
Shalke's Raul held off three defenders, then he slipped the ball to Jefferson Farfan. Farfan found the corner of the net with just six minutes to go. The home side could not respond. Schalke advances to the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win.
