Sony names Nobelist Negishi research adviser

Sony Corp. said Monday that Eiichi Negishi, winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in chemistry and a professor at Purdue University in Indiana, has accepted the appointment of executive research adviser for the company's R&D, focusing on organic electronics.

By obtaining assistance from Negishi, Sony is hoping to accelerate its research and development of organic light-emitting diode displays and other technologies.

Sony said Negishi will offer advice on organic electronics research and development the company is conducting at both internal and external research centers.
