Citizens will be allowed to cast their votes in elections with their ID cards only, said Tarek al-Bishry, head of the Constitutional Amendments Committee, in a press conference on Sunday.
“They would not need to issue special election cards for that purpose,” he said.
Al-Bishry also said all elections would be held under complete judicial supervision, while the role of the Interior Ministry would be limited to securing and organizing the electoral process.
“The committee amended certain articles of the Constitution,” he said. “Now it will work on amending laws complementing those articles,” pointing to the laws on political rights, parliament and presidential elections.
