A major raid is underway in Belgium, linked with an "advanced" terror
plot in France. Explosions were reported to have been heard, and at
least one person was said to have been "neutralized."
Armed police launched another new raid in the Brussels district of
Schaerbeek, a day after six suspects were arrested over the suicide
attacks on Tuesday.
The Belga news agency reported that two explosions were heard at the start of the operation, with police having sealed off the area. Bomb disposal experts were said to be at the scene.
A police source was reported as saying that the raids were related to the arrest of suspect Reda Kriket in Paris on Thursday. The 34-year-old was found with heavy weapons and explosives in his apartment.
France's interior minister said that Kriket, who has been wanted since January, was in the "advanced stages" of a plot targeting France.
