Shares in the Chinese mainland closed lower Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down by 53.76 points or 1.9 percent to close at 2,781.4.
The Shenzhen Component Index dipped by 253.65 points or 2.02 percent to close at 12,303.2.
