SHANGHAI, December 1, 2010 - Chinese shares fell 0.21 percent in early trade Wednesday with losses spread across the market amid growing concerns that the government may announce new rate hikes to curb inflation, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was down 5.79 points at 2,814.39.
The Shanghai A-share index fell 0.20 percent, or 6.02 points, to 2,947.31, while the Shenzhen A-share index dropped 0.49 percent, or 6.73 points, to 1,362.77.
