Tax revenue up 10.5% in October

Tax revenue increased 10.5 percent in October from a year earlier, with income from the tobacco tax soaring 120.9 percent following its hike at the start of the month, the Finance Ministry said Wednesday.

The total came to ¥2.9 trillion. Tobacco tax revenues stood at ¥163.29 billion.

The ministry said corporate tax revenue grew 44.1 percent to ¥398.65 billion.

Revenue from personal income tax totaled ¥769.03 billion, up 0.6 percent, while income from the consumption tax rose 8.4 percent to ¥805.78 billion.
