Detroit win Colorado 4-3 in overtime

Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood attempted to win his 400th career NHL match on Monday night as the Detroit took on the Colorado Avalanche.

1st Period. Off the face off, Colorado forward Milan Hejduk squared a pass to the front of the crease. Matt Duchene picked up the loose puck and fired home his 14th goal of the season. 1-0 Avalanche.

It was 2-1 when Detroit tied the game up at two on a power play. The Red Wings won the face off in the offensive zone and Johan Franzen wide open in front of goal, scored past Avalanche goaltender.

2nd Period, In the second period, Osgood faced 23 shots and saved them all - including a stop off Matt Duchene after some quick passing by the Avalanche opened the ice.

Overtime. With Duchene's scoring to tie again 3-3, the game headed into overtime. A controversial penalty call benifited the Red Wings as Niklas Kronwall fired a slap shot to win the match 4-3 for the Red Wings.

Rangers hit seven against Islanders

The New York Islanders faced their cross-town rivals, the Rangers on Monday.

1st Period. Just 44 seconds into the game, Rangers Matt Gilroy gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead. The puck was deflected into the net by an Islander defenceman, but credited to Gilroy.

The first quarter witness four goals in total, two for each team. Marion Gaborik tied the match at two with a slap shot that bounced into the net for the goal.

2nd Period, Gilroy took the puck from the defensive zone, skated through centre ice and fired the Rangers into the lead with his second goal of the game. 3-2 Rangers.

3rd Period. In the third period, the hosts put the match out of reach. The Rangers made it 7-2 on a power play as Rangers rookie Derek Stephan fired a slap shot past Roloson to complete the rout.
