With a chance to clinch a playoff spot, the New Orleans Saints visited the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome.

New Orleans scored the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter. Already up 3-0, Pierre Thomas took Drew Brees' handoff for a two yard touchdown run putting the Saints 10-0.

The Falcons responded to the Saints touchdown with one of their own. Matt Ryan connected with wide receiver Roddy White on a seven yard pass to cut the score to 10-7.

4th Quarter: Brees attempted to avoid a pass rush when he flicked the football toward what he thought was his receiver. Except Falcons' Chauncey Davis intercepted before returning the ball 26 yards for an Atlanta touchdown. Great hands, great vision and only 4 points the difference between the sides.

But with under four minutes remaining in the game, Brees completed a six yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham on a third down play as the Saints won 17-14. Brees finished the match throwing 35 completed passes from 49 attempts to total 302 yards. With the victory, the Saints qualify for the playoffs and the opportunity to defend their Super Bowl title.
