SINGAPORE (Kyodo) The Malaysian property developer YTL Corp. said Tuesday it plans to develop a posh ski resort in Hokkaido targeted at well-off Asian travelers.

YTL said it has purchased 460 hectares of real estate and leased a 155-hectare ski facility in the Niseko area in the foothills of Mount Annupuri, a popular ski destination, for about $66 million last April.

The resort will provide "world-class ski facilities, infrastructure, attractions and resort properties to visitors and residents," YTL Managing Director Francis Yeoh said in a press release.

YTL said the mountain retreat will have luxury hotels, serviced condominiums, town houses, villas, boutiques, restaurants and art galleries.
