MUMBAI (Kyodo) Panasonic Corp. unveiled Tuesday a new lineup of air conditioners for the Indian market, including a low-cost model to be priced at 15,500 rupees (about ¥28,700).
The bottom-end Cube AC model will debut on the market in January, spearheading the successive release of 39 more machines by summer, Panasonic said.
Japanese consumer electronics makers, facing an uphill battle with South Korean rivals in emerging economies, are seeking to regain their competitiveness by releasing low-cost products meeting local consumer needs.
