Flight schedules in Europe are nearly back to normal, after being grounded by days of icy weather. Many passengers spent Christmas Day trapped at the main Paris and Brussels airports, amid frozen chaos.
Several hundred people slept overnight at the terminals, or in nearby hotels. Flight schedules returned to normal in the French capital on Saturday, as emergency supplies of de-icing fluid finally allowed planes to take off.
But the situation left many angry about this month's repeated weather disruptions. It also raised questions about the inability of the air and rail industries to deal with snowy conditions.
Airports were mostly operating normally in Britain, Belgium, and Germany on Saturday, although there were several cancelations in Frankfurt and Zurich.
